A Little About Me
As a psychotherapist my goal is to help you achieve wellness and feel satisfied with your life. With all of my work I utilize a present moment awareness to help manage difficulties or recognize joys. I combine this moment-to-moment awareness with the risk reduction principles of harm reduction to support people in finding ways to manage chronic pain or illness, impulsivity, mood instability, substance misuse, or sexual difficulties. My style is authentic, creative, and collaborative. I have an eclectic approach to therapy and take into account the impact of your life experiences, conscious and unconscious thinking, and social location.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California and New York. I received my Master's degree from Smith College School for Social Work, where I was trained in psychodynamic, postmodern, and feminist approaches to clinical practice. I have advanced training in relational psychotherapy, with a focus on adolescents and relationships from the Women's Therapy Center. I am a master's level Certified Addictions Treatment Counselor in California, with a specialization in harm reduction psychotherapy.
Additionally, I am an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and attended the California Institute of Integral Studies Sex Therapy Certificate program.
I have worked as a social worker for over 17 years in a wide range of roles and settings. I have provided clinical care via street outreach, at community mental health clinics, in prisons, and within inpatient and outpatient hospital settings. I have experience with adolescents, adults, couples, groups, and families. In all of my work, I am dedicated to challenging systems of oppression.
Often sitting together and having an in person meeting is the best way to get a feel of how we will work together. I invite you to contact me and schedule an initial consultation.
